Diablo Reels slot is the 7th edition of ELK studios series of classic slots, taking up the Day of the Dead Mexican festival theme. It’s a theme which has been done pretty frequently over the last couple of years but Diablo Reels surpasses it’s competitors in terms of sheer looks. However, does the gameplay match up and will fans of the series be suitably impressed with it’s range of features and bonuses? Overall Impression
Diablo Reels really excels in what it does hitting the bullseye in terms of creating of simply fantastic looking classic slot which sounds fantastic and also introduces just the right amount of bonuses to keep the gameplay engaging and provide an entertaining free spins round. Our only gripe is that the max win is lower than we would like to have seen, at just 2,500x. Personally, I can’t wait until this slot is released fully and it’ll be up there with my top choices whenever I’m looking for a classic slot to play.
Overall
4.4Pros
- Superb Graphics and Excellent Soundtrack
- Hits The Bullseye Where Classic Slots Are Concerned
- Engaging Gameplay Throughout
Cons
- Max Win Too Low

How it Pays and play
First up, Diablo Reels is played out on a 3 reel, 3 row grid with 5 paylines. This can be doubled though during certain parts of the gameplay when the top section of the slot is opened up, making for 10 paylines on a 6×6 grid.
ELK Studios have rated Diablo Reels as an 8/10 on the volatility scale, so it’s certainly up there towards the higher end.
The max payout is 2,500, a bit low for our liking.
The hit frequency is 18.1% and so you might find periods of dead spins more frequent than you would like, but remember, it’s a classic slot.
Betting stakes range from 0.2 coins up to 100 coins of whichever currency you’re playing in, pounds, pence, cents, euros etc.
Symbols, Sounds and Graphics
Classy Latino music plays whilst you spin the reels and picks up the tempo if you hit the free spins bonus. Sound effects are old school slot style and are perfectly suited to the theme of things, hitting just the right chord.
The symbols and graphics really do look outstanding, for a classic slot machine style ELK Studios have really nailed it with Diablo Reels. It just looks 1st class from start to finish.
Talking of the symbols they range from the Diamond, which is the top paying, through to the iconic red 7s, bells, horseshoes, bars, watermelons, limes and finally a red chilli as the lowest value.
Wilds simply have “Wild” written in yellow on a red background, they can substitute for any symbol other than the Scatters.
The Bonus Scatter symbols (land 3 for the free spins round) says Bonus in yellow writing, set against some yellow/red flowers with the Diablo horned skull in front of them.
Bonus Features and Free Spins
Nudging Wilds and Stacked Wilds are available in both the free spins and the base game. This helps to keep the base game somewhat engaging.
Nudging Wilds: These are identified as Wild symbols but with an arrow on them. Whilst they nudge upwars they award players with respins and any placed on the top reel can award a 2x or 5x multiplier.
Wild Stack Respin: whenever you are lucky enough to land a stack of Wilds on any reel then you will see the respin feature trigger, activating both the upper and lower reels, bringing more opportunities to win into play.
Free Spins Bonus: 3 Scatter symbols gives you 10 free spins. Here both the upper and lower reels are opened for play. Lower valued symbols are also removed helping you to rack up the decent sized wins. The free spins can also be retriggered.
