Summary
Kalahari Safari slot looks visually quite appealing and creates an enjoyable African safari type vibe. The animations which come with wins and a high hit frequency keeps the base game running along but some modifiers would have been nice to see. The potential comes from the free spins bonus, which it likes to tease you with a lot. It lands pretty frequently however, but wins are often smaller in nature due to the medium level of volatility. Overall, Kalahari Safari is a pretty basic slot which will have a reasonably broad appeal but veteran slot players will probably not give it the most lengthy playtime, favouring the higher volatility games. I also personally prefer more modifiers and depth of bonuses generally.
Overall
3.9Pros
- High Max Win Potential

Cons
- Lack of Base Game Modifiers

Symbols and Graphics
Set on background of the Kalahari plains in southern Africa we can see giraffes to the left and zebras the the right on the reels. The reels are transparent and the Okavango river flows across the screen and behind the reels, whilst you can see some rocks and trees in the background. All images are very nicely drawn and might make you feel like booking a safari holiday to the Kalahari.
Whenever a winning combo is formed you will see a flock of white birds fly past in the background, if the win is bigger you’ll get a couple of eagles flying past in the foreground. For bigger wins you can see stampeding elephants run acrosss the screen, followed by a cute looking baby elephant trialing after the herd.
Low paying symbols start from 9’s, (which are the only symbols that pays out for 2 of a kind) through to Aces.
Premium symbols include, in ascending order, African style drums, a necklace, a zebra, a crocodile and a lion.
Wild symbols are elephants which can substitute for all other symbols except for the Scatters.
Scatter symbols say “Bonus Stampede” on them and will change to show stampeding elephants and then the Lightning Box Games logo when you land enough of them to trigger the bonus round.
Bonus Stampede Free Spins Round
If you land 3, 4 or 5 Scatter symbols you will get 8, 15 or 20 free spins respectively. These can be retiggered with 2, 3, 4 or 5 more Scatters giving 5, 8, 15 or 20 extra free spins. there is no limit to the amount of retriggers available.
Once the free spins trigger you’ll see the elephants “stampede” down reels 2, 3 and 4, showing off the winning potential.
