Residents and visitors to the U.S. state of Indiana can now place sports bets at the brand-new Bet America Sportsbook that opened on Monday inside the Rising Star Casino.
To mark the opening of that sportsbook, several former Bengals players attended the ribbon cutting ceremony, and they included legends such as Louis Breeden, Joe Walter, Joe Kelly, Ickey Woods and both Richard Cary and Kevin Walker.
Those former players were also tasked with placing the first sports bets at the sportsbook and were soon followed by a very steady stream of local gamblers who were eager to take advantage of the facility.
It is no secret that all land-based casinos across America are eager to open sportsbooks at their properties, thanks to some recent legislative changes that no longer allow just Nevada based sportsbooks to offer sports betting opportunities.
The owners of the Rising Star Casino have very high hopes for that sportsbook, in fact it is expected that as sports betting has now been legalised in Indiana the state will benefit from some $150 million in additional related gaming taxes and many hundreds of additional jobs will also be available in that market sector too.
Back in September of this year the nearby Horseshoe Casino opened their own sportsbook and early indicators are that it has been warmly embraced by visitors to that casino property.
However, there are some restrictions on the type of sports bets that can and cannot be placed at any Indiana Gaming Commission licensed sportsbook, and currently 23 different sport types have been listed by them as being ones that their license holders can offer odds on and take bets on.
