Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino Hit with $20,000 Fine

It was earlier this year that the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino was hit with a $20,000 fine for allowing a 20 year old woman back in July of 2018 to enter the casino, gamble and also drink alcoholic drinks for some three hours. That incident and resulting fine would, one would imagine, would rattle the management team enough to ensure they get their gaming floor staff to remain on the ball and check the I.D of anyone that looks under the age of 21.

In fact, these days it isn’t unheard of for people on their 20’s, 30’s and even 40’s to be asked for identification if a casino employee suspects they are not old enough to legally gamble inside any land-based casino.

However, lightning has stuck twice for that unlucky casino, for the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission have once again hit them with another $20,000 fine for allowing someone else under the legal age to drink and gamble to do so inside the casino.

This time it was an even younger person, that being a 19-year-old man that managed to enter the casino unchallenged and both gamble and order drinks for well over an hour whilst inside that property.

One would imagine that is finally the wake up call the casino management team need to put into place a much more robust way for them to ensure no one under the legal age to gamble and to drink, that being 21, can do so inside their property.

The Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino is, however, a large casino and one in which players have access to around 1900 slot and gaming machines, and all the usual card and table games such as Blackjack and Roulette.
