Summary
Return of the Dead is a slot which repeats a winning formula. There’s nothing new here but there doesn’t really need to be. It will make a nice addition to the “Book of” selection of slots for players and will certainly be getting some gameplay from myself due to the high 96.71% RTP.

How it Pays and Plays
Set on 5 reels with 3 rows Return of the Dead has 10 fixed paylines. It’s a highly volatile slot which is marked as 5/5 on the variance scale, the max win is 5,000x and the RTP stands at 96.71% which is pretty high, higher than Book of Dead, Legacy of Dead and way higher than the original Book of Ra or any of it’s incarnations. Symbols and Graphics
Return of the Dead is set in Egypt on the background of the Pyramids at sunset, you can see the sun setting behind a Pyramid shining quite brightly and through the glowing black and orange sky. The reels have a grey/black coloured wall type background with hieroglyphic writing on it. The reels have a gold top to them and the logo name of the slot resting there. It looks ok but nothing particularly special.
Sound effects and music are pretty standard with an ancient Egyptian theme to them, suiting the slot very well and helping you get immersed into the gameplay.
Lower paying symbols are 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace. Premiums are, in ascending order, a Golden Jewelled Scarab Beetle, the bird god Horus, Tutankhamun and then we have our hero, John Hunter as the top paying symbol and the main protagonist of these Pragmatic Play Egyptian themed slots, he actually looks pretty real and at first i thought it was an actual photo.
There are also Scatter symbols which are red books with “Return of the Dead” written on them in gold writing. They also act as Wild symbols.
Free Spins Bonus
Return of the Dead offers the standard free spins bonus which is applicable to virtually all book of slots. You need to land 3, 4 or 5 Scatters to get 10 free spins to trigger which will also give you 2x, 20x and 200x respectively. Although getting more than 3 Scatter symbols won’t give you any additional free spins you can retrigger the free spins an unlimited amount of times by landing 3 or more Scatters again.
Once you have landed the 3 Scatter symbols you’ll see the Return of the Dead book open and flick through its pages to reveal a special symbol. This symbol will then expand when you get 3 of a kind or 2 of a kind if you were awarded with a premium symbol. It then pays on all 10 win lines.
