It was back on the 31st of January this year that the Northlands Casino finally closed its doors for the very last time, and after 23 years of trading that venue did sadly add its name to the many casinos across the U.S that for one reason or another were no longer financially viable.
However, customers of that casino, which did of course adjoin the Northlands racetrack, can pay one final visit to it today and possibly also buy a memento of the property.
For today is the day when the entire contents of the casino and racetrack are to be put under the hammer and sold off by way of a public auction, and there are bound to be all manner of unusual and unique items for sale that may just go for a fraction of their true value.
Around 4000 items are going to be sold by auction later today and those items include everything from the fixtures and fittings to some highly sought after sporting memorabilia, too.
Racing fans are sure to be in attendance or at least putting in a bid via the web or over the phone for many of the items being sold from the racetrack part of the operation, however, plenty of people are expected to turn up to simply say one final goodbye to the property.
It will be Kastner Auctions that are running the auction later today and with $50,000 worth of alcohol also going under the hammer from the venues bars, maybe several people who do like a tipple will also turn up today.
