Saturdays upcoming Aintree Grand National is set to be the 172nd race since it began back in 1839. This year the race is 4.25 miles and comprises of 30 fences which is shorter than normal. However, this does not make it any less exciting and here we focus on Walk In The Mill who we believe has a good shot of placing well this year. Currently 28/1 at PaddyPower if you fancy a punt.
Walk In The Mill hails from Robert Walfords West Country yards and is nicely weighted, fitting the bill for a winner. It is his first Grand National race and he is also just about the right age you would hope to find amongst previous winners at 9 years old.
Walk In The Mill also has victory to his name in distances over 3 miles, including back in just December last year when he claimed in the Becher Chase.
What’s more, some might say that he has a lucky owner in the Baroness Dido Harding who is a former FTSE 100 CEO and has herself ridden round Aintree.
Finally, he has the character and backstory one hopes of a National winner, in that he was wild in his youth to the point of being deemed unrideable leading to him needing to be led by a push bike to be exercised.
Whether or not he will produce the magic needed to claim victory or even place does remain to be seen. However, if you fancy a punt on him then head over to Paddy Power for the best odds.
