Extreme Fishing Slot

extreme fishing slot

Extreme Fishing slot is an August 2020 release from Lightning Box Gaming. Offering a high level of volatility and a novel fishing feature bonus feature along with a free spins round does Extreme Fishing land the catch of the day or does is it come back empty handed with nothing but fisherman’s tales of the one that got away. See what we thought in the full review below.

Summary

Extreme Fishing offer a decent range of bonus features and the Fisherman Feature is a novel kind of bonus which adds something extra to the game overall, making it that bit more exciting. However, the slightly low RTP combined with a max win of just 1,500x whilst still pushing high volatility levels is a bit of a let down. Graphically it is also lacking somewhat when compared to a range of other slots from top designers in 2020.

How it Pays and Plays

Extreme Fishing is set on a 5 reel 3 row grid with 25 fixed paylines.

The RTP is slightly lower than we would have liked to have seen at just 95.84%, it’s not appalling but not an attractive aspect of the game either.

You get a maximum win of 1,500x and, as the name suggest, it’s highly volatile. That 1,500x win combined with the high volatility is an immediate put-off though.

Stakes go from 25p/cents up to $/£/€150 per spin which covers most bases but some lower stakes players may feel left.

Bonuses on offer include a Shark Attack Wild feature, which can trigger in the base and bonus game. Then there’s the free spins bonus round and during this there is an interesting Fishing Feature Game which can bag up to 1,000x wins.

Symbols and Graphics

Extreme Fishing is set on a background of the open water with the coast just visible in the background and reels flanked either side by fishing nets. The scenery changes to underwater one the Shark Attack feature and also to a sunset on the Fishing Feature.

Lower paying symbols are made up of 10s through to Aces. Then you have a crab and a starfish symbol. Higher up the payscale are 3 different coloured fish and the top standard symbol is that of a fisherman sporting a beard and woolly hat.

The Wild symbol is a shark which can sub for any other symbol except the Scatters. It also pays the highest, with 60x for 5 of a kind.

Scatter symbols say “Bonus” on them and show a fisherman reeling in a fish against a sunset background.

Lightning Box won’t be winning any awards for the graphics here but they get the job done.

Shark Attack Feature

This is triggered at random during either the base or bonus game. Here you will see 3 sharks enter the reels and eat up any of the higher paying fish symbols, turning them into Wilds. This can make some decent winning combos if the fish are in the right places.

Free Spins Bonus

You get the free spins to trigger by landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters. This will give you 10, 20 and 30 free spins respectively. It will also pay 2x, 10x and 500x your stake.

During the free spins you can also get the Fisherman Feature when you land 5 of the green swordfish symbols. This will take you to a screen where the fisherman casts out his line and a reel will spin to see if you catch a fish.

You have 15 attempts at this. Each time the reel will spin and either land on a swordfish or n a red broken line symbol. You need to progress to the top of a 7 segment gauge and get to the green “Fish Caught” to win.

Each win moves you up one segment whilst each red symbol moves you down. The game ends when you either run out of attempts or you reach on of the either ends of the scale to say “Fish Caught” or “Fish Lost”.
