Summary
Jolly Roger 2 is most certainly an upgraded experience to the first one. It is improved in every aspect, from the bonus features to the sound and graphics. The bonus rounds are well designed and give you a range of possibilities. You will be hoping to land the Battle Free Spins but any of the other features can still result in decent sized wins. Though it’s pretty safe to say most will try to avoid the Instant Prize. The only area lacking in the base game which could perhaps do with more modifiers.

Symbols and Graphics
You start at the lower end of the scale with the playing card symbols. This goes from 10s through to Aces.
Premium symbols include a crucifix engraved with a skull, a skull ring, a diamond and a treasure chest overflowing with loot. These pay between 5x and 10x for a full line/5 of a kind.
Scatter symbols are a bearded pirate captain with an eye patch and a large black hat with a feather. You’ll need to land 3 of these to get to the free spins and bonus round action.
Wild symbols are the Jolly Roger Skull and Crossbones flag, saying WILD on it. These subsitute for any symbol except the Scatter, they will also pay equal to the top symbol (treasure chest) for a line.
Bonus Features
Jolly Roger 2 comes with a range of bonus features and this is where the game excels. There are 4 bonus rounds you can get and a base game modifier.
Spinning Compass Multiplier
During the base game you will also find that you are randomly awarded with a spinning compass symbol with attaches a x2, x3, x5, x8, or, hopefully, a x10 to that particular spin. This can also be triggered in the bonus rounds too.
Bonus Quest Feature
Land 3 Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 and you will get taken to a pick and win type game. You need to choose various treasure maps displayed on the screen which will reveal a prize, pick 3 of the same and that is the prize which you will be awarded with. They include the following.
Instant Prize: The will award an on the spot cash prize. It ranges from 2x to a max of 20x. However, you can get the spinning compass as well, which could see multipliers as high as 200x. It is the worst of the features though generally.
Bottle of Rum Free Spins: This gives you a single free spin and when the reels stop you pick from 5 rum bottles. Each one you pick will turn a random reel wild. Keep picking until you get the poisoned bottle. The compass multiplier can also come into play here.
Treasure Hunt: Here you get 10 free spins and you’ll see a treasure map with X symbols on it behind the reels. You’ll move along the treasure map when a spin land in a map symbol. You want to reach as many X’s as you can because each time you do you’ll get 2/3 free spins added and a modifier. These can include transforming symbols to Wilds, removing lower paying symbols and win multipliers. Once you have completed the 10 spins you’ll then start the bonus game with however many free spins you secured and they will have the modifiers attached to them.
Battle Spins: There is no set amount of free spins with this feature. Instead, you get 3 lives and each time you lose a “battle” against another ship you lose a life. However, if you win the battle you’ll get an extra life, up to a maximum of 3.
Battles begin before each spin and you will face one of three enemies each time. If you defeat the enemy you’ll be rewarded with not only the extra life but also stacked Wilds on reels and a guaranteed compass multiplier.
If you lose you’ll get an “opponents victory” reward and see different modifiers added to the reels, these are still nice to have but not as good as the compass multiplier and stacked wild reels.
Lose to the British ship and you get all high paying symbols upgraded to the max paying symbol, the treasure chest. Lose to the Portuguese and 2 random symbols will turn into Wilds. A loss to the Dutch will synchronise the first 3 reels.
You can also fight Merchant ships which always result in victory, but no added extra life. You’ll get the stacked Wilds but no multiplier.
Finally, you can fight Privateer ships, you will find a loss here does not give an opponents victory reward. A win will still give you stacked Wilds but there’s no compass multiplier.
