Miles Bellhouse and the Gears of Time

gears of time slot

Miles Bellhouse and the Gears of Time is a November 2020 release from slots developer, Betsoft. It looks to take on the theme of time travel with our protagonist, Miles Bellhouse, making some kind of time machine which can be used to aid you in forming winning clusters of symbols. But do we wish we could turn back time and dodge this slot altogether or would we simply like to relive the glorious playing experience over and over?

Gears of Time slot offers a very decent RTP but the base game felt a little boring despite the 3 modifiers, which didn’t seem to spin in too often. As the free spins bonus just repeats these modifiers it also felt a little flat. I would also like to see a higher max win multiplier to increase the appeal of playing this slot.

How it Pays and Plays

5 reels and 5 rows form the grid in which cluster pays combos of 3 or more adjacent symbols lead to a winning payout. There are 3 types of free spins bonus rounds on offer and 3 types of base game modifiers to help keep things interesting.

Betting ranges from 0.1 coins up to 50 coins in your chosen currency with a maximum payout of 54,240 euros. The RTP immediately sticks out and we have to give the Gears of Time slot 2 thumbs up for coming in at 96.98%, which is really very decent for an online slot in 2020.

It’s a high volatility slot but the maximum payout is just 1,084x which is a little disappointing, still, on the highest stakes range it would deliver a nice payout!

Get 3 or more of the same symbols landing adjacent to each other and you will get the reels respinning. If another symbol lands to expand the win you’ll get another respin. This goes on until there are no extra symbols spinning in as part of the win.

Sound and Graphics

Gears of Time is set in an 19th Century looking brick warehouse type building which we presume is the workshop of Miles Bellhouse who has been dabbling in time travel machine construction, and succeeding by the looks of things. You can see a green type of swirling pattern in his time machine located to the left of the reels which he is standing in front of. You’ll see the various game modifiers displayed in here when they are triggered.

Sound wise you have a curious type of music which creates a sense of intrigue and some cranking machine type sound effects as the reels of the slot turn.

The highest paying symbol is Miles Bellhouse himself, the you have a robot, then a couple of clock machine contraptions followed by a gold cogs, a silver cog and finally a bronze cog.

There are also Electric Wilds which substitute for all symbols. They look simply like a ball of electric and make a buzzing electric sound when they land.

There are no Scatter symbols.

Clusters of Time Base Game Modifiers

Before the start of each spin 5 positions will be selected and a border formed around them. The more of these spaces which are covered with a winning combo the higher the chances of triggering a base game modifier. These work as follows.

The Past: This triggers your last spin to be replayed. At the end of the spin you’ll get another cascade of non matching symbols will occur, this happens 5 times to improve your chances of landing a big win.

The Present: This adds a 2x to a 20x multiplier to your win.

The Future: A random symbol will be selected and on the next spin you will be guaranteed 10 or more of them will land.

Free Spins Bonus

If you cover all 5 of the Clusters of Time positions then you’ll get the free spins bonus. Here you can choose between 12 Past free spin, 10 Present free spins and 6 Future free spins. Whichever free spins you choose will have the same Clusters of Time base game modifier, as detailed above, attached to each spin.
