Super Six Scorers Beats the Odds

Soccer fireball scores a goal on the net

Choosing six players to each score a goal isn’t an easy bet to win.  The past weekend saw Christopher Grice from Norfolk, England, do just that though and turned £2 into £204. He might have had a sleepless night on Saturday evening though.

His six-fold began on Saturday 10 February with five of his predicted scorers all in 3pm kick-offs. He needed Che Adams (Birmingham City), John Marquis (Doncaster), James Collins (Luton Town), Keifer Moore (Barnsley) and James Norwood (Tranmere to all get on the score sheet at any time in their respective games.

Great Start

Everyone wants their bet to get off to a good start and in the first minute, Keifer Moore scored for Barnsley at Gillingham. There wasn’t too long to wait for the next goal as highly-valued Che Adams scored for Birmingham City at QPR in the 21st minute. That made It goals for Adams in six consecutive league games and he went on to hit a first-half hat-trick.

More good news followed as James Collins scored for League One leaders Luton Town. At half-time, three of the five players playing that day had done the business for Christopher. Three became four when John Marquis scored for Doncaster Rovers in the 66th minute leaving just James Norwood without a goal.

The wait continued for a little while longer but with 13 minutes to go, Norwood scored for Tranmere against Stevenage. Five out of five so far but the final leg wasn’t being played until Sunday afternoon, so Christopher had to wait to see if his bet was going to be a winner.

The Long Wait

Second-placed Norwich City were home to local rivals and bottom of the Championship Ipswich Town. The home side dominated the game but with 25 minutes to go it was still only 1-0. Then their top scorer Teemu Pukki hit the back of the net and the bet was won and the tidy sum of £204 made its way into his account.
