Today is, of course, the day when the 18th annual Global Gaming Expo opens, and it is at the Sands Expo & Convention Center along with The Venetian that the expo is being held, and there will be literally thousands of people attending, as is the case every year.
However, whilst there will no doubt be dozens of new slot machines being put on show and previewed there, this year will see an increase in the number of online gambling software companies that will be displaying their respective wares, thanks to the relaxing of state wide online betting laws and regulations.
With more and more land based casinos now opening sportsbooks and in addition to offering their own online poker and casino sites, it is expected to be a busy time for those involved in supplying the software and hardware to such sites.
It is, however, not only gambling executives that visit the Global Gaming Expo, for over the years more and more slot players have started to attend, in the hope they can get a sneak preview of the upcoming slot machine releases that will shortly be making an appearance in land base casinos across the US and beyond.
I know many of the major slot machine developers are in attendance this year with Everi launching several new slots and IGT and Scientific Games expected to do the same.
With plenty of new slots being revealed, many of which are still in the prototype stage of their development, it will be interesting to see just which slot themes those developers will be launching in the coming months, and what, if any new unique features and bonus games will be on offer on each of them. As soon as we get a sneak preview of them we will of course report back.
