Book of Kingdoms is a November 2020 release from Pragmatic Play in partnership with Reel Kingdom. Coming hot on the heels of their previous release, Return of the Dead, we here see a slightly different take on the “book of” type slot with an added respin feature. Again, it’s certainly nothing new and if you don’t like expanding symbol type slots then it won’t suit you – if you are a fan though, read on as you’ll probably enjoying taking the Book of Kingdoms slot for a few real money spins.

Value for Money
Book of Kingdoms isn’t offering anything new but at the same time it’s a decent slot. The paylines might not deliver a hefty punch like they do in some other “book of” slots but its medium volatility and high RTP make sure you get good value for money from the game. The jackpots and respins bonus game can make for a nice bit of variation too, helping the slot appeal to a broader audience.

How it Pays and Plays
We have your typical 5 reels with 3 rows but here we get 25 paylines as opposed to the often seen 10 paylines. This is going to make the paylines worth a lot less with the top symbol giving only 20x for 5 of a kind. This in turn makes the maximum win on any single spin top out at 500x. Book of Kingdoms has a medium level of volatility.
The best thing about this slot is the high RTP which sits at 96.69%. This is higher than almost every other “book of” type slot and is just a touch below the previous Return of the Dead which has a 96.71% RTP. With RTP levels feeling like they are dropping all over the place these two slot from Pragmatic Play are what I like to see. Keep those RTPs high!
The game has its obvious expanding symbol free spins but also incorporates a respins feature and 3 jackpots which can be won. This all adds to this excitement and somewhat makes up for the low max win and low paying winlines.
Symbols and Graphics
Book of Kingdoms takes on an Arabian type theme as opposed to the typical ancient Egyptian type imagery. In the background you can see a desert at sunset with mountains reaching up into the sky whilst there’s a temple type building, looking somewhat pyramid like, located to the right. The reels have a stone framework, seperated by thin columns and they are transparant when set against lower paying symbols.
The music is an upbeat type of Arabian style which sounds quite enchanting, I actually felt like it added a decent touch to the overall feel of the game, which isn’t often that happens.
The lower paying symbols in Book of Kingdoms are 10’s through to Aces. Premium symbols are a Monkey with a red waistcoat and hat, a woman holding a snake around her neck, a bearded Arabian man and then the Explorer symbol as the top payer.
Scatter symbols are the brown “Book of Kingdoms” slot. This also acts as a Wild symbol.
Finally, there are silver coin symbols which have a monetary value attached to them. Land 5 of these to start the respins bonus.
Respins Bonus Feature
5 Silver coins triggers this. Get these these and you are taken off to a new screen where the 5 coins which landed will be locked in place with monetary values labelled on them. The other spaces will be blank and you get 3 respins to land a new coin in any of the empty spaces. If you land a new coin the respins resets to 3. Go 3 spins without landing a new coin and the game will end and you’ll be rewarded with the total value of all the coins.
The respins game is also where you can win the minor, major or mega jackpot. The minor is 30x your stake, the major is 100x and the mega is worth 1,000x. You’ll get awarded any of these by landing a coin symbol with the corresponding jackpot on it.
Free Spins Bonus
As in all book of slots you will get one special symbol selected at random when you land 3 or 4 Scatter symbols. This will also pay 1x and 20x respectively. If you then land 3 or more of the special symbols they will expand to cover the entire reel and pay on all paylines. You will only get 5 free spins though but this can be retriggered an uncapped amount of times.
