Cowboys Gold is a November 19th slot release from developer Pragmatic Play. We are once again transported to the Wild West with a whole host of cowboy, cowgirls and associated imagery. There’s a interesting free spins bonus with layered levels of multipliers which also partially applies to the base game. It’s a decent slot from Pragmatic Play, perhaps nothing groundbreaking but let us take a deeper look and you can see whether or not you fancy giving it a blast yourself. 

How it Pays and Plays

Cowboys Gold slot is set on 5 reels with 3 rows. there are 243 fixed paylines and it pays left to right for winning combos. You get a slot marked as 4/5 on the volatility scale which has a pretty respectable 96.5% RTP. You can bet from 0.1 coins up to 100 coins, as is standard from Pragmatic Play. There doesn’t appear to be a feature bonus buy option in place though. The highest max win is set at 60,500x which is pretty huge even on the smallest of stakes. You’ll be aiming to see the Renegade symbol land during the base game and also during the free spins bonus round which Cowboys Gold offers. More on this below. 

Base Game Modifiers

There is one base game modifier on offer here which is as follows.

Renegade Money Collect Feature: There are 7 cowboy/cowgirl symbols which you’ll see spinning in on the reels, all of which can have a multiplier value attached to them. There are 4 gold bordered and backgrounded symbols which are the “Lawmen” and 3 Bandit type masked cowboys with what looks like wooden coloured borders. You’ll want to see the gold “Lawmen” symbols landing as they all have a multiplier attached to them. The values can be between 1x and 100x, the gold symbols will have a higher value. 

Whenever you land the Renegade symbol on reel 5 (it’s only available on reel 5) it will collect the value of all the cowboy symbols multipliers which are in view during that spin. 

Free Spins Bonus

Land 3 Scatter Symbols or just 1 Scatter and the Renegade symbol on reel 5 and you’ll get 10 free spins. The Scatter are skull symbols and only land on reels 2, 3 and 4. You can retrigger the bonus round up to 3 times. You do this by landing either 1 or 2 Scatter symbols and a Renegade symbol on reel 5. Or by landing 3 bonus symbols. Each time you retrigger you’ll get 5 extra spins and the Renegade collector will get an extra multiplier added, giving you the potential to get up to a 5x multiplier on wins collected from the cowboy symbols with a maximum of 25 free spins. During the bonus round you’ll also see an increased number of Renegade symbols added to reel 5, upping the chances of big wins considerably. 

Sound and Graphics

You have a suitably Western sounding theme tune to go aling with the gameplay which during the base game is set on the background of a bar. You can see the kegs of whiskey in the background and some wanted posters on the walls. Once you get to the bonus free spins round you get a background of a Wild West town with a couple of saloons/bars to either side of the reels and some more Wanted Posters.  

Lower paying symbols include Jacks, Queens, Kings and Aces, paying up to 5x for 5 of a kind. The higher paying symbols are starred horse spurs, a whiskey bottle and glass, a revolver and a Lucky Golden Horse Shoe – paying 75x for 5 of a kind. You then get the 4 lawmen and 3 bandit cowboy/cowgirl symbols, irrespective of which ones you get, they pay 1x, 5x and 10x for 3, 4 or 5 of a kind. You can land them in any order and they still pay out. 

TheWild symbol is a silver Sheriffs badge with Wild written on it, it subs for any symbol expect the Scatter or the Renegade symbol.

The Renegade symbol lands only on reel 5 and is a cowboy wearing a red mask over his moth and nose and a stetson.

The Scatter symbols are all Skulls with a Sheriff hat and are also holding a pair of revolvers.
