It’s good sometimes to be optimistic, especially when trying to win money. The card that gets you a flush might be the next one drawn and a 375/1 winner might just win. The latter was the case for one lucky punter on Wednesday evening (January 9) as they turned £21.80 into £8,196.80.
The optimistic bet that won well over £8000 was placed at SkyBet and all that was required was Kevin De Bruyne to score for Manchester City. Well of course that was just half of the bet as the reigning English Premier League champions also had to win their Carabao Cup game against Burton Albion by a 9-0 score line and that’s just what happened!
City had played Rotherham in the FA Cup on Sunday and beat them 7-0. Burton Albion are a League One side but had battled hard to knock out Premier League Burnley and Championship sides Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest to reach their first ever Carabao Cup semi-final.
Nightmare Start for Burton
They got off to the worst possible start going 1-0 down in five minutes. Good news for City and even better news for this brave punter as it was De Bruyne who scored the goal. Goalscorer part of the bet won, now just eight more goals without conceding and the £8,196.80 was won.
There were a few nervous moments to come as Burton had an excellent chance to level the scores. City were always on top though and the goals kept coming. With seven minutes to go, City went 9-0 up. Imagine how this punter felt now as the City fans called for a tenth goal. It never came, and the 375/1 bet was a winner. Just what will be his bet be for the second leg??
