Summary
Although the RTP is a bit too low for our liking as is the max win at just 1,950x, Popeye slots provides a decent base game experience with the Wild modifiers and what seemed like quite frequent bonus teases to keep you engaged, with the bonus landing just often enough for it not to be maddening. The free spins round could have been built upon more with some extra modifiers added to spice it up although adding a multiplier onto the Wild wins can make one good spin rapidly make for a big bonus round. Graphically it’s pretty much what you would expect with all the associated Popeye imagery.

How it Pays and Plays
Popeye slots is set on 5 reels with 3 rows and 25 fixed paylines in which to form your winning combos. The volatility is marked at 5/5, it’s definately a highly volatile game.
The RTP is just 95% however, and i would rather see it pushing up towards the 96% rate which is more standard for online slots designed in 2020.
The maximum win is also somewhat on the low side at just 1,950x and for a high variance slot you would probably want to see this being higher.
Symbols and Graphics
Popeye slots is set on the background of a cartoon sea with the waves moving up and down. The reels are transparent and have a wooden frame with a ships steering wheel located on the top right and left corners.
Lower paying symbols are the typical Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 playing Cards.
Premium symbols are, in ascending order, a lifering and anchor, Popeyes smoking pipe, an open treasure chest, Swee’Pea, Wellington Wimpy, and finally, Popeye himself as the highest paying.
There are also Olive Oil Wild symbols, Bluto Wilds and the Scatter symbols are cans of spinach.
Bluto Expanding Wilds
Whenever a Bluto symbol appears on reel 3 he will proceed to chase Olive Oil symbols which appear on the reels. Wherever he lands the symbol will turn into a Sticky Wild and you’ll be given a random number of respins with this in place, anything from 1 to 5 respins. The location in which the Wilds appear is determind by the position in which Bluto lands as you can see in the image below.
