Yucatans Mystery Slot is a Mayan themed slot which gets it’s name from the Mexican state of Yucatan which was the home of the Mayan people. The mystery part comes from the many mysteries of these people and because the slot makes use of giant mystery symbols in the bonus game. However, is Yucatans Mystery one that we want to solve, or would you be better off walking right on by? Read our full Yucatans Mystery slot review and see just what we made of this slot from Red Tiger.
As with most Red Tiger slots, Yucatans Mystery looks really good which generally helps add to the gameplay experience. The base game is a bit bland however, and the RTP is a little low for our liking, but this is often the case with Red Tiger slots, veering into the 95% range. The free spins round is what it’s all about though, and if you can get the floating mystery symbol grid to expand you could be hit some big wins. It’s hardly a new mechanic but it does work well and make for an exciting bonus round.
- Expanding Mystery Symbols Box in Bonus Game
- Max Win of 4,284x
- Excellent Graphics and Design
- Base Game is a Little Bland
Yucatans Mystery Slot Stats
How it Pays and Plays
With a fairly standard setup of 5 reels and 4 rows on each you’ll find 30 potential paylines to score your winning combinations on. 3 or more matching symbols from left to right will give a win.
The RTP is slightly disappointing at just 95.75% which is a little under the industry average and never really makes a game feel enticing when we see this.
The betting ranges from 10p/cents to £/$/€20 which may neglect the highest of rollers.
A maximum win of 4,284x is reasonable, however, Yucatans Mystery is classed as a high volatility slot, so he max win could certainly be higher than it is and doesn’t exactly stand out.
Mystery symbols are the name of the game in this slot and you’ll see plenty of them in the base game and most importantly in the free spins round.
Symbols and Graphics
Yucatans Mystery slot is set on the background of coloured columns with Mayan type carvings on them.
Symbols are made up of the lower paying playing cards, Ace to 10 whilst the premium symbols are stone with a symbol carved into it, a statue of a Mayan figures head with a decorative hat on it, a blue Mayan mask with red hat and a Mayan character with a golden feathered decorative headdress who is also the top paying symbol giving 25x for 5 of a kind.
Mystery Symbols make up for the lack of any Wild symbol in Yucatans Mystery slot. These are gold/bronze symbols which will all simultaneously flip to reveal a given symbol. They will show a different symbol set each time they flip and may show 3/4 symbols before they finally settle showing symbol you will actually be awarded with, teasing you somewhat if you see a nice premium symbol land only to be replaced with one of the playing cards such as a Jack or a 10.
Scatter symbols are Mayan pyramids, land 3 of these to get the free spins bonus round to activate.
The base game includes the use of the mystery symbols which help to push things along as you attempt to land the 3 Scatters to trigger the free spins round.
10 free spins are initially awarded for the bonus round. also, you will see that a transparent mystery symbol 2×2 sized will float around the grid and if you land any other mystery symbols next to it it will then be activated and the mystery symbols will flip to reveal a set of the same symbols.
The key to big wins here is landing extra Scatter symbols during the bonus game, this will see you get 1 extra spin but most importantly it will expand the transparent floating mystery symbol block. This game expand to be 5×4 covering nearly the whole grid, bagging you some monster sized wins.
