Horror House Slot

horror house slot

Horror House slot is an October 2020 release from Booming Games. It works somewhat like the Valley of the Gods slots with the reels opening up extra paylines with each winning spin which culminates in a free spins bonus round. Of course, here we take on the theme of a Horror House and not a visit to Ancient Egypt, the release of Horror House is timed to coincide with Halloween, but will you still be playing this slot afterwards or will it be one you venture to just once or twice a year. Let’s take a closer look . . .

Summary

Horror House slot has a reasonably good base game as you get to see the extra paylines come into action as you hopefully manage to trigger the free spins. I would have liked to have seen some more variation to the game overall though, perhaps some multipliers and something along the lines of Valley of Gods with extra lives. Horror House will make for a bit of Halloween slotting fun but probably won’t go much further.

How it Pays and Plays

Horror House slot is set on a 5 reel 5 row grid, however, various positions on the grid are blocked off and if you form a winning line it will open some of the blocked reel positions to bring more paylines into play. Continue to get 6 winning spins in a row and you will eventually reveal all of the paylines and begin the free spins bonus.

The RTP is set at a respectable 96.04% with a high level of volatility and a max payout of 4,800x. Bets range from a low stakes 0.1 coins up to a hefty 100 coins in your currency.

Expanding Paylines

You will initially start with 45 paylines which increases with each respin as follows:

  • Respin 1 = 135 paylines
  • Respin 2 = 405 paylines
  • Respin 3 = 675 paylines
  • Respin 4 = 1,125 paylines
  • Respin 5 = 3,125 paylines

Free Spins Bonus

Once you hit the 5th respin you’ll be awarded with 8 free spins in which all the reels are fully open and 3,125 paylines are in play. The free spins round cannot be retriggered though and there’s no multiplier to spice things up or extra lives type bonus as we got in Valley of the Gods.

Sound and Graphics

The soundtrack is a suitably spooky themed number with creaking hinge sounds as the windows open up on the house to bring new paylines into play. There’s also some slightly sinister sounding laughter with each winning spin and when you land premium symbols are part of a winning line they become animated, adding some extra visual attraction to the game.

The reels are set on a background of the Horror House which is an old wooden looking building with the windows boarded up. There are also some dead trees in the background set against a night sky. A suitably haunting looking feel perfect for Halloween.

Lower paying symbols are 10s up to Aces, all paying 1x for 5 of a kind. Premium symbols, in ascending order, are a spiders on a web, a black cat, a doll holding a knife which looks like something from the Chucky movies, a werewolf, Frankenstien and a vampire who pays 20x for 5 of a kind.

There are Wild symbols which substitute for all symbols. There are no Scatter symbols.
